Was used on a lesson horse so has marks from tape showing where rider was to hold the reins, & were tied so have kinks from knots, still usable & not dry rotted. Comes with matching 5/8” x 7' flared end split reins with silver concho ends. Headstall adjusts with 5 factory punched holes on each side. Buckles on headstall are removable/replaceable with Chicago screws, are stamped German Silver on back, & F2 Circle Y symbol & 265-7007 are stamped on underside of crown piece. Reins are stamped with Circle Y symbol & 4797 7. Color option was called Ultra Lite, but this light color leather darkens to a chestnut color when exposed to sunlight. All leather is doubled & stitched, headstall adjusts on both sides, & comes with matching split reins. Headstall measures approx 44 1/2" at largest & 35 1/2" at smallest adjustment. Matching split reins are 3/4" wide x approx 6 1/2' long & have new fancy Chicago screws added as original small conchos are missing. Age & maker unknown but appears very old. Buckles are not marked on back but look like copies of old Diablo Silver buckles & do not react to magnet. Leather is supple with only some wear marks around holes from buckles on headstall & leather on reins where buckstitching ends shows some wear. No throatlatch style. Single ply 1/2" leather crown, 1/4" round braided ear pieces, & what looks like 4 or 5 plait 5/16" cheeks. Measures approx 42" as adjusted now with holes to make smaller or larger. Some wear to leather crown, but looks like you could replace with a narrow leather curb strap. Comes with matching romal reins approx 7/16" thick, 8' long including 12" long leather poppers at end. Lovely set, in excellent condition with some darkening in areas from contact with horse. Headstall is supposed to be horse size, but throatlatch has broken near last hole, so would only fit a cob or pony. Halter & reins are made from a continuous piece of rot resistant braided poly rope. Looped reins are approx 9 1/2' long & attached on both sides of the halter, leaving regular loop under chin for attaching lead rope. They way the reins are tied on gives a weighted feel to area directly below horses nose to encourage them to keep the head down. No metal hardware on this at all. Great trail bridle as you can leave headstall/reins on & still tie horse as normal. Rope halters are a popular training aid so riding in one is natural. Some people feel that a rope halter provides clearer communication with the horse compared to a leather or web halter, so they learn to give to pressure much faster. Braided Leather Rawhide Bosal Headstall Horsehair Mecate Reins Show Western Bridle Horse Hair Reins Lt Oil Brown Horse Lovely western set for show consists of fancy bosal hanger headstall, braided leather bosal with braided rawhide trim, & horsehair mecate reins. Bosal is braided soft chocolate brown leather with natural colored braided rawhide nose with dark brown design, braided in headstall stops, & mathing design on heel knot. Nose measures approx 1 1/8" at widest spot, approx 9" long from stop to stop, sides approx 3/4" in diameter, inside measures approx 12" top to bottom & 6 1/4" side to side, with approx 2 3/8" ball at base. Looks like 8 plait on sides which are flexible & do not react to magnet with a much tighter plait on the nose. Bosal is on a doubled & stitched 5/8" leather simple crown style western headstall with natural rawhide braided trim, adjusts with simple slip rawhide keeper through rawhide covered ring & has a horsehair tassel end. No buckles for a super clean look. Braided horsehair mecate reins attached in traditional tied method of looped reins with single loose end for a lead. Knot with horsehair tassel at bosal end & small narrow leather popper on lead end. Reins are approx 5/8" in diameter, measure approx 20' without unwrapping them to measure, & are black,dark grey & white. Used for training colts to flex & neck rein.
