Driving Harness Tail Crupper Harness Parts
Dark brown or faded black leather tail crupper from a driving harness. Tail area is rounded & padded, stap has a doubled, stitched & shaped area, & has buckle adjustment w/all keepers. This measures approx 44" as adjusted now with 1 hole left to make longer & 6 to make shorter. Size unknown but should fit a cob or horse size. Leather is older, still supple, but does show some wear & surface cracking, & a few scuffs on crupper padding. Use for training, replacement harness part or build a complete harness with parts you already have.

Mini Horse Driving Harness Breastcollar & Traces Harness Parts Black Miniature Horse Small Pony
Black leather harness breast collar with traces & wither strap. Breast collar is 1 1/8" wide single ply leather in front with adjustable neck strap, has stainless steel hardware, & traces are doubled & stitched for added strength. Traces measure 66" from center of breastcollar to end & has 3 slots. Use for training, replacement harness part or build a complete harness with parts you already have. Brand unknown, it was new & we cut strings apart so we could measure it, but it does have some cricket chews to leather surface in a few places(easily covered with black dye), mainly where it creased from being tied. Leather is not dry rotted & is sturdy yet supple.

Black leather harness breast collar with traces & wither strap. Breast collar is shaped/tapered & is under 2" wide single ply leather with neck strap that is adjustable on both sides, has brass hardware, & trace area is doubled & stitched for added strength. Measures approx 12' total length with 4 slots on each side & wither strap measures 33 1/2" from bottom of trace over wither to bottom of trace at longest adjustment. Leather is older, still supple, but does show some wear & has some cricket or mouse chews. Use for training, replacement harness part or build a complete harness with parts you already have.

Interesting decorative stand/rack made out of draft horse shoes, regular horse shoe, & a driving harness wood & metal hame & metal ball topper. Use for a potted plant, next to the hearth for holding the fireplace tools, or just as a conversation piece in your home. Measures approx 29" tall with base horseshoe approx 8 1/4" x 7 1/2". Fairly heavy. Nicely done, but maker unknown. Some rust on bottom shoe base.

Black Nylon Large Mini Small Pony Driving Harness Synthetic Pleasure Harness Driving Harness
Black doubled & stitched nylon driving harness consisting of 3/4" wide nylon reins almost 10 1/2' long with brass scissor/trigger snap ends, breastcollar & traces, 7" wide x 17" long padded black fleece back pad with velcro straps that attach to harness saddle, nylon girth, shaft carriers & tie downs, britching with hold back straps, & synthetic coated crupper. Harness saddle/girth smallest measurement is approx 51" & largest is 58" around. Breastcollar/traces measure 63" from center of breastcollar, & britching measures 32 1/2" from ring to ring not counting hold back straps. Comes with new blind bridle we had made to match this as original bridle is missing. Because this is a pleasure type harness, there is no overcheck or sidecheck, & no place on harness saddle to hook one. Most hardware is brass. Brand unknown. Some light dirt otherwise excellent used condition.

Vintage Chase? Carriage Blanket Driving Horse Lap Blanket Wool Sleigh Lap Robe Brown Plaid/Black

Carriage blanket or lap robe in a brown plaid on 1 side & black on the other with rolled & stitched edges. Looks like made out of wool & is very warm. Measures approx 62" x 52". Brand nor age is known, possibly vintage. Can find no label, but similar to vintage Chase lap robes. Owner said this was purchased used from an antique shop. Has a few small worn spots or holes.

Vintage Jog Cart Gaiting Strap Standarbred Race Horse Harness Part 60"
Vinyl tube covered nylon strap used on jog carts & is designed to keep a horse's hip from leaning into the jog cart shaft. Measures approx 60” long with biothane loop on 1 end & 2 metal triangle rings at other end. Missing loop for this end & keeper on other loop is broken, otherwise in good condition, flexible & not cracking. Use for training Standardbreds for racing or regular horses for driving. Brand & age unknown.

Vintage Draft Horse Draft Mule Driving Harness Bridle with Blinders Leather Driving Bridle
Vintage heavy duty leather driving bridle with brow band, throatlatch, brass bridle rosettes, & blinders. Was used by owner on Percherons but was said it was originally used on Draft Mules. Missing bit hanger straps as owner used snaps instead. Some dirt & leather is old but appears in good condition. Should still be usable or use as a decoration.

Shires Coronet 5 1/2" Military Elbow Low Port Bit with Surations Textured Ribbed Low Port Driving Horse Bit

5 1/2" low port mouthpiece that is ribbed on one side & smooth on the other so you have 2 choices of mouthpiece severity. Post measures approx 7/8" from top of port to bottom of mouthpiece. 7 1/4" shanks have 2 slots for rein placement & are turned back to prevent the horse snatching the reins. Includes stainless steel curb hooks & curb chain. This bit is an alternative to the Liverpool driving bit and has been traditionally used by the army & the police force so can be used for riding or driving. Stamped Coronet 5 1/2" on mouthpiece & comes new with tag.

Draft Horse Harness Replacement Parts Black Leather Chain Side Check Strap
Heavy duty black leather with chain side checks for draft driving harness bridles. Has snaps on each end for attaching to the bit. Good used condition, snaps work, some rust to chains, some wear to leather but no dry rot. Great replacement part. Needs some cleaning. We have some with single buckle adjustment & some with double buckle adjustments, so please specify which you prefer. 2 available.

Vintage Wood Single Tree Horse Mule Driving Harness Wooden Singletree with Metal Rings
Vintage oak wood single tree for horse or mule driving to wagon. This measures approx 42" end to end, approx 3" diameter center tapers to 1 1/2" diameter ends, has metal ends with 3 3/4" diameter rings & center has threaded bolt. All metal is rusty & wood is very worn with many cracks, but great for the rustic look for decorating. Have seen these used for hanging lights, hang on the wall over mantles, etc. Do not suggest this be used for actual harness work.

Vintage 21” Driving Horse Collar Draft Horse Mule Work Collar
Measures 21” from inside bottom of collar(neck) to top(withers) and approx 8” across at widest spot between padding. Closure at the top works & although leather is dirty & a bit dry, could still be used, but there is a hole to underside under bottom of neck(see photo). Possibly still usable, but selling in As Is condition, so you can make a mirror or just hang on the wall. Maker or age unknown.
How to measure a horse for a collar:
The old way: is to take 2 straight edges place 1 on top of neck and 1 on bottom of neck parallel to the shoulder blade, measuring between the 2 straight edges in a straight line. This should give you a close measurement for a collar.
The new way: Measure the circumference (widest spot on the horses front leg, usually under the arm pit). This should give you the collar size within a inch or so. When fitting a horse with a collar there should not be any more space between the horse's neck and throat of the collar than will allow your fingers, when laid flat on the inside, to pass through freely.
