Derby Originals?
Etched or engraved "silver" trim with a Texas star overlaid on black circle on cheeks & nose, engraved silver buckles(not marked), keepers & tips, double buckle crown, 3 way adjustable under chin, & rolled throat. Doubled & stitched 1” dark brown leather with rubbed & darkened edges. Cheek pieces measure 7” not counting rings, & crown measures ring to ring over crown 39" at smallest & 45" at largest with 3 factory punched holes on each side. Brand unknown, but leather is similar to Derby Originals. Crown piece on left side shows wear scrapes from adjusting through buckle, but scrapes should disappear with oiling.

Western Show Halter with Chain Lead Stock Halter Silver Show Halter Silver Trim Black Horse

Brand unknown on this leather show halter of black leather, doubled & stitched, 3 way adjustable under chin, rolled & wired throatlatch, double buckle crown, "silver” trim with "gold” design, & comes with matching black leather lead with chain. Cheeks measure 7 1/2” not including hardware & overall largest measurement is 47”. This halter was used once & then stored badly in a barn. We cleaned & oiled & it was in surprisingly good shape, but would recommend another oiling or 2 to restore this. Surface cracking on 1 adjustable strap under chin, rust on all the hardware/rings & chain on lead. We did not clean the silver, which is the cheap stuff. Lead is 3/4” wide single ply leather, almost 5' long, plus a 24” long 1/2” silver tone chain for total length of almost 7'. Snap works well, chain has rusty spots. Use this on a sale horse, at small backyard show, etc.

Cheeks measure 7 1/2” not including hardware & overall largest measurement is 43”. This halter is imported leather but is supple. We did not clean the silver, which is the cheap stuff. Use this on a sale horse, at small backyard show, etc.

Possibly vintage shaped leather show halter, doubled & stitched with scalloped cheeks & nose, 3 way adjustable under chin, rolled throatlatch, double buckle crown with simple buckles that can easily be changed to fancier ones, silver rope edged conchos on cheeks & nose that is not the cheapie stuff, but don't know if its sterling or not. Lots of green around each concho/Chicago screw in back. Took 1 concho off & it was not stamped on back. Cheeks measure 8” not including hardware, & ring to ring over crown measures 36 1/2" at smallest & 44 1/2" at largest adjustment with 5 factory punched holes on each side. Brand unknown, leather is supple, possible older Billy Royal?

Heavy doubled & stitched 1" leather show halter with darkened edges, nickel spots or studs on cheeks & nose, adjustable under chin, rolled throatlatch with spring snap, & double buckle crown with simple buckles. Cheeks measure 7” not including hardware & crown measures from ring to ring over crown 38” at smallest & 44" at largest adjustment with 4 factory punched holes on each side. This halter leather is heavy duty but supple, & is unmarked so brand unknown, but quality similar to Tory, Circle Y or Weaver. Used once to sell a horse, so in like new condition.

1” wide doubled & stitched quality leather with rubbed & darkened edges, double buckle crown with plain buckles, 3 way adjustable under chin, & rolled/wired throat. Engraved silver tips on crown piece, but trim on cheeks & nose are missing. Silver tips are stamped on back with what looks like an triangle, so should be Alpaca Mexico silver. Chicago screws allow you to change buckles & add fancy ones. Cheeks measure 7 1/2" not including hardware, nose 11" not including hardware & measures ring to ring over crown 38" at smallest & 41" at largest adjustment with 3 tightly spaced factory punched holes on each side. Was used by owner to show Paints. Add your own conchos or bar trim & you'll have a quality show halter for a fraction of new halter prices. Brand unknown, but quality similar to Circle Y, Weaver, Tory or even Kathys.

Lovely 3/4" wide leather show halter with silver bar trim with raised rope edges, double buckle adjustable crown with silver buckles, keepers & tips, 3 way adjusting under chin & rolled/wired throat. Silver buckles are stamped on back Alpaca Mexico, & crown is stamped Circle Y 614-3401. Cheeks measure 7 3/4" not including hardware, & ring to ring over crown measures 35" at smallest & 41" at largest adjustment with 4 factory punched holes on each side. Some greening around silver & minor scuffs on throatlatch, otherwise leather is supple & in excellent used condition.

Doubled & triple stitched 1" wide leather halter with silver trim on cheeks & nose. Double buckle crown, adjustable under chin, wired/rolled throat, & all brass hardware. We removed a silver trim piece from cheek & it was stamped Mexico on the back, so this is not the cheap stuff. Looks like a heavy duty track halter with silver added. Soft quality leather, unmarked so brand unknown. Cheeks measure 7”, & crown measures from ring to ring over crown 41" smallest & almost 46" largest. Comes with matching lead with 24" long brass chain with total length of lead including chain at just over 6'. Use to show halter in smaller shows, on a sale horse or as a fancy every day halter for your horse.

Sunset Trails
Sunset Trails, originally known as the Srour company & purchase in 1951 by Bob Stanton, has been around since the early 1920's, building buckles & saddle silver in the Los Angeles area. The "silver screen cowboys" of the movies were helpful in the growth & popularity of their business. Sunset Trails became one of the premier western silversmiths in the world. Leather is quality leather, buckles are stamped on back Sunset Trails Sterling, tips are marked Sterling on back, so rest of silver should be sterling as well. Doubled & stitched 1" wide leather halter with raised golden rope edged silver trim on cheeks & nose. Double buckle crown, 3 way adjustable under chin, wired/rolled throat, & engraved sterling buckles, keeper trim & tips. Cheeks measure 7 3/4” not including rings, & crown ring to ring over crown measures 33" at smallest & 38 1/2" at largest adjustment. Gorgeous vintage show halter in excellent condition, a few extra holes punched in crown piece.

Western Stock Show Halter Silver Show Halter Brown Horse
7/8" wide leather show halter that is doubled & stitched throughout with black stitching, has raised rope edge engraved silver trim on cheeks & nose, double silver buckle crown with silver keepers, 3 way adjustable under chin, & rolled throat. Cheeks measure 7 1/2" not including hardware & measures ring to ring over crown 37" at smallest & 41 1/2" at largest adjustment with 3 holes on 1 side & 4 holes on other. Brand unknown, but silver is a nicer silver, possibly sterling overlay, doesn't seem to be marked, cleaned up well with silver cleaner & isn't the cheapie stuff. Supple leather but does have a few surface cricket chews which leaves a slightly lighter colored spot behind as they eat the salt off the leather & some scuffs from buckle on crown piece, otherwise excellent used condition.
