Sweet iron naturally oxidizes or rusts, which is harmless to horses, & it's sweet taste helps promote salivation. The Myler 3 Ring Combination Bit is a hybrid of a ring bit, a shank bit, & a hackamore. Due to the innovative design, this bit synchronizes the pressure applied to the nose, chin & poll. The noseband & chin strap form a single unit connected through the purchase. By simply changing the noseband/chin strap adjustment, the rider can easily control how much, if any, pressure the mouthpiece will apply & to what degree the nose, chin & poll are engaged. The mouthpiece floats on the ring & the noseband & chin strap remain stationary until the reins are engaged. None of these elements can engage or tighten up on their own to apply unintentional pressure. The Happy Mouth bits are warmer to the touch than traditional stainless steel bits making it ideal for younger horses or horses with a sensitive mouth. This bit is a single jointed bit with a nutcracker action that works on the tongue, the bars of the mouth & can have action on the horses palate. Two reins should be used with the Happy Mouth 3 Ring Gag; 1 on the main snaffle ring of the bit & the other on the lower ring. The Happy Mouth Jointed 3 Ring Gag is a less severe gag due to the lower angle of leverage .
